Every day Gulfstream aircraft are visiting The Netherlands. But there was only one real Dutch registered Gulfstream, ever! For almost 2 years, from delivery July 25, 1970 until February 1972, Gulfstream II, c/n 78, was registered PH-FJP. The aircraft was flying for Philips Vliegbedrijf, the flight department of now Royal Philips, the Dutch technology company. Philips was founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik. FJP in the Gulfstream registration stands for Frederik Jacques Philips and it was the first real business jet registered in The Netherlands. But what about the rest of the aircrafts history? Not boring at all! C/n 78 made it's first flight for Grumman Corp. December 19, 1969 as N17585 (registered October 1969). It was the first GII to be outfitted in England (delivered to Marshalls of Cambridge for outfitting 03-02-1970). After serving for Philips the aircraft was registered to Imperial Oil Enterprises Ltd., Toronto (25-02-1972) and first got the old style Canadian registration CF-IOT. In July 1972 the registration was changed into C-FIOT and Irving Oil leased the GII.

After serving in the US as N90HH for Canadair Challenger Inc., O'Gara Aviation Co/SDA Enterprises, Gulfstream Inc & CD Hoefer, Keycorp Leasing and The Aviation Co., c/n 78 was sold to the Government of Panama. In September 1995 it was registered HP-1A. In April 1998, as no. 64, the GII was converted into a GII-SP. After this last highlight its career went downhill. In September 2009 HP-1A was put up for sale by auction but no buyer was found. The Gulfstream was noted withdrawn from use at Panama City Marco A. Gelabert International Airport December 9, 2009. On September 5, 2010, now re-registered, HP-1691 was seen at the same airport stored in a hangar. It was noted outside 30 October 2011. In autumn 2013 the HP-1691 was relocated to Fort Pierce (FL). Here it was noted in January 2014, December 2014, January 2015 and October 2016. It was not seen there at the end of 2019.
